About The Small Investor's Software Company

The Small Investor's Software Company is a privately owned. Established in 1991, its founder and owner Mr. James Kellndorfer created the company to help individual investors of all calibers armed with a PC to learn how to find and make better investments.

His personal travails and experiences with the financial industry and professional community fueled his crusade to help individuals gain inexpensive access to the same tools and vital information that the professionals use when investing. All of the company's products and services are an extension of his belief that anyone who wants to know how to invest more wisely can do so profitably if given the right tools and timely information.

Introducing PointsAhead!

Financial software has had its share of exciting software entries. However the fact is that the majority of entries are copies of the original. Whether they claim to be better, bigger, faster, more robust, or more friendly, the fact remains they are still either a financial organizer, accounting package, tax preparation, or a variation of a common database or spreadsheet. Active participation up until now meant the user entering data - checks, expenses, transactions, etc.

Inspite of this lack of originality, the thirst for these programs is staggering and still growing. It is expected that in 1994, the growth in the financial sector of the software industry will outstrip last year's pace of 18-21%. At this rate, 20 - 40 millions users will have organized their financial history by themselves.

This trend of users "doing-it-themselves" will not only continue, but they will be demanding more tools and interactive analyses as they naturally grow and learn more about their financial health. However there is a problem. There are no packages that enable the user to make judgments with regards to improving their financial health; until now.

The Small Investor's Software Company has created a new and truly unique entry into the marketplace. It has developed the first of its kind for the mass retail software market an interactive package that empowers the user to learn how to make better judgments with regards to their investment selection process. Currently in the marketplace, there are no tools for analyzing the user's portfolio and other potential investments.

PointsAhead! provides the user the same complex and powerful market-timing tools that the professionals use on Wall Street. Its functionality is so different that it can not be compared to any other existing financial software package. It is not a copy of the original; it is not another financial organizer; it is not another accounting package; it is not another tax preparation package; but rather it is the only package that retrieves quotes; processes them automatically; maintains/edits data; displays pictorial views of investments; and analyzes them to enhance the user's financial wealth and health.

PointsAhead! is not just another productivity tool. Unlike other software which presumes to benefit the user by saving them time which indirectly saves them money; PointsAhead! helps the user to directly make more money. A PointsAhead! user typically can evaluate the purchase of the software as an investment which will yield a Return-On-Investment. It is a tool by which they can make money. A recent survey of our installed user base, reveals that the average user makes more than the price of the software with one or two investments.

The stock market is at all time highs, interest rate are at record lows, and users are yearning to learn for themselves how to evaluate these opportunities. They own sophisticated hardware and up until now there was no software to expand their desire to explore the wide world of financial investments. Whether the user is interested in stocks, mutual funds, bonds, futures, commodities, options, indices, or any other investment class, PointsAhead! enables individuals to harness the power of the PC to efficiently scan thousands of investment candidates instead of just manually evaluating a few. It enables them to use their computer in new ways that help them to reach new insights by spotting profitable trends when they start rather than when they become popularized and become "has beens".

Up until now, users usually accepted as fact the advice of others. The sole reason being that they had no means by which they could verify this advice. PointsAhead! finally provides the user with those tools that enable them to validate those claims. They can finally make a decision with confidence because they can finally do their "homework". PointsAhead! can now let the user see a picture of the investment's past, analyze it; and assess its current potential investment potential. And in doing so, the user can respond confidently because they are more aware of the investment's potential and are aware of its potential risks. Seeing is believing, and PointsAhead! lets the user see for themselves why the investment is worthy of their hard earned dollars.

Users no longer need to wait for the next level in financial software; they no longer need to resort to paying what amounts to custom programming prices, and they no longer need to rely on their gut instincts. It aims to unlock the barriers that has prevented the average investor from discovering how to find potential investments and it lets users begin to question the advice of others.

PointsAhead! is the result of years of trading experience and programming effort. It unleashes the power of the PC into new and uncharted areas which allow the user to interact with data instead of just entering and organizing them. It directly improves the user's financial health. And finally, PointsAhead! lets the user benefit from deciding for themselves when to buy and when to sell their investments. Because in the world of finance, timing is everything and the right time to buy PointsAhead! is now.

PointsAhead! in Detail

Features and Benefits

PointsAhead! is the first software to make market timing tools and analytical techniques available to the individual average investor. It enables users to analyze any investment such as stocks, mutual funds, futures, commodities, options, bonds, and indices. This freedom to analyze any investment helps the user to decide for themselves when to buy and when to sell their investments just like a PRO. It liberates the user from merely collecting and organizing data to empowering the user to actively interact with them to gain new insights. It also frees the user from the mundane and repetitive tasks and allows the user to spend more time on finding new investment opportunities and optimizing existing ones. PointsAhead! is a toolbox that every investor should own.

As a toolbox, PointsAhead! provides four important functions to users. Each facet alone could be considered a stand alone program but the value and power of PointsAhead! is in combining these functions into one integrative package that seamlessly and automatically brings the user only one keystroke away from the full compliment of complex analytical tools. PointsAhead!'s facets pertain to these functions of retrieving price quotes, maintaining prices, converting different formats, displaying prices, and analyzing them.

Please refer to Section 4 for a listing of all of the specific tools, capacities, requirements, and data handling characteristics.

Ease of Use

After the user clears the greeting and copyright message, the user is met with the popular graphical user interface. This familiar format allows the user to choose between using the mouse or the keyboard.

Once the user has installed the software, PointsAhead! is ready for use. It has four example sets of prices so that the user can immediately begin to explore the various studies and tools available without the initial concern of getting data.

PointsAhead! is so easy to use that the user can create a sophisticated graph in three keystrokes or in two mouse clicks. They can also reset each of the tools time frames and customize or optimize each tool's settings so that PointsAhead! can reflect the user's investment style. PointsAhead!'s ability to remember the user's optimizations is one of the advanced feature that professionals particularly enjoy.

Lastly, PointsAhead! has an innovative Guide Bar. This visual aide in the User's Reference Guide uses icons to identify three characteristics of each study in the toolbox. PointsAhead!'s Reference and User's Guide is the first source anywhere to make it easy for the average investor to understand when, why, and how to use each form of analysis.

Data Compatibility

Most software today that needs to store user inputted data creates its own proprietary format. Not PointsAhead!. It only uses the top four major price data formats that already exist. This means that a user can use any price data from virtually any online data source as well as inputting data manually, if so desired. It also means that the user can choose between the popular online services such as AOL, Prodigy and CompuServe, but also with 24 lesser known companies. As a bonus, it is also compatible with existing data from other applications such as spreadsheets, word processors, and telecommunication packages.

Typically, software packages will align themselves with one online service, but the power and versatility of PointsAhead! lies within its ability to interact with 26 different data companies. Imagine the flexibility associated with this connectivity. A user doesn't need to be locked into one company and is free to shop around for the best rates and services at any given time.

Data Conversion

PointsAhead! converts data automatically from those companies that produce non-standard formats. So maintaining data is a simple process that typically requires a few keystrokes to execute. Again PointsAhead! versatility shines with its ability to utilize multiple data sets. A user could elect to get different classes of investment prices from different online services and each of those sets could use a different data format. PointsAhead! enables the user to instantly switch from one set to the other "on-the-fly" with one simple keystroke. This incredible power is the result of PointsAhead!'s proprietary "Universal Data Translator".

This capability to convert data into a one or more standard data formats allows users to maximize their online dollars. By using the online service more efficiently, PointsAhead! lets the user retrieve more prices and to maintain more sets of prices because it automates the process making it easier and faster for the user to get the information. By saving the data, it also decreases the time spent online with the service and it also eliminates the need for the user to constantly retrieve the same data. These savings translate into fewer dollars spent online leaving more dollars for investing. And when the user is offline, they can choose when they want to analyze their investments instead of being restricted by online plan rates and they can spend as much time as they wish analyzing without any connect charges.

Graphical Analysis

PointsAhead! has the most innovative graphical displays in the industry because they are proprietary designs. PointsAhead! has three different ways in which the user can view the investment's prices. It can display them using the traditional bar (high, low, close) chart, or use they can use the Candlebar, or Equivolume charting techniques. The Candlebar is The Small Investor's Software Company's innovative twist to the existing Japanese Candlestick charting technique. This state of the art display benefits the user by enabling them to see four times the information that is conveyed via the Japanese Candlesticks. The Equivolume chart, developed by Richard Arms, is a unique two dimensional view which relates price to volume. PointsAhead! has enhanced this view by colorizing it to reveal more information to the user.

It also enables the user to simultaneously use multiple techniques and studies to evaluate any number of investments. The user is free to mix studies so that they can formulate their own strategy and they can optimize each form of analysis to suit their style or time frame.

Nowhere else can the user get 40 tools that utilize market timing techniques and technical analyses so easily and integrates them so that user has complete control as to how and when to use them.

Integrated Environment

PointsAhead! combines data conversion, limitless data handling, user-definable hi-resolution graphical displays, complex analyses, flexible customization, multiple data sets support, and market timing tools and techniques into one package. This combination of features and functions clearly qualify it as the most innovative product in the financial software category and the most sophisticated product to date.

This sophistication is what users are seeking as they begin to explore the power of their PC. Nowhere else can a package with this combination of flexibility, versatility, and functionality be found at its current competitive price.

Until now the user has not been able to use one package that retrieves quotes, maintains them, displays them, and analyzes them; there hasn't been a package that works with 26 data companies, and 4 different data formats; there hasn't been a package that has three different and innovative charting techniques along with 40 interactive forms of analysis until PointsAhead!. PointsAhead! is the investors best choice available in software when they decide to use their computer to learn how to find investments and to optimize existing ones. No other package exists on the retail shelves that empowers the user to make more money from their investments like PointsAhead!.
